Prayer is not an end in itself. It is a means to make contact with the supernatural realm and dimension of God. It is Communion with Him.
How do you hope to converse or interact without your mind being actively involved. Unless you are acting drama or playing.
If its prayer, it must be done with every sense of seriousness and attention on the person we are not only praying to, but actually praying with!
*Jeremiah 33:3 - Call upon me and I will answer and show unto you great and mighty things which you know not!*
When you pray in tongues, your Spirit prays...your mind is dormant at that time. (1 Corinthians 14:2-4)
You must intentional engage God's reality by meditation at that time. Fill your mind with thoughts of Jesus, scriptures or the subject matter you are praying about...
The reality of your desire must be kept alive on your mind as you pray in the Spirit, else your prayer would amount to nothing but Spiritual activity with no life or contact with reality...
It would be described as such, having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof.
As you pray in tongues, make sure your Spirit is not the only one praying...if your prayers must be EFFECTUAL, FERVENT, HEARTFELT, EARNEST and EFFECTIVE, your prayer must come from the bowels of your being...spirit, soul and body.
*James 5:17b - It is THE EARNEST, HEARTFELT, CONTINUED AND INTENTIONAL prayers of the righteous man that makes TREMENDOUS POWER AVAILABLE DYNAMIC IN ITS WORKINGS!*
*Luke 22:44 - And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.*
Jesus prayed in Gethsemane with so much emotions His sweats were bloody...that was why He broke through...
Prayers done casually don't even touch the depth of your being, how would they touch heaven or interact with God...
If your prayers will touch God, then they must not only touch you, but must arise from the core of your being...
So as you pray in tongues, ensure you do either of the following...
*KEEP THE PICTURES OF YOUR DESIRES ALIVE IN YOUR MIND!*
*MEDITATE ON A VERSE OF SCRIPTURE!*
*MEDITATE ON THE REALITY OF JESUS!*
*MEDITATE AND SEE YOURSELF ALREADY WALKING IN THE REALITY OF YOUR DESIRE!*
Ultimately, do all to keep your mind alive, attentive, focused, alert and engaged on His reality!
No distractions or wandering thoughts...that weakens the prayers and diffuses the power being made available!
Make sure the weight of CONSCIOUSNESS OF JESUS and INTENSITY OF DESIRE is high! All of these happen in the realm of your soul.
