It would be an understatement to say that the Church today as a whole doesn’t look like the Church in the Book of Acts. Have you ever wondered why? Why don’t most believers see the miracles, signs, and wonders that we are promised in Scripture?
The Bible assures us that “these signs shall follow them that believe” (Mark 16:17). One of the problems that we see in modern church culture is an emphasis on doctrine and philosophy.
The Bible says, “The kingdom of God is not in word, but in power” (1 Cor. 4:20). Word here is referring to doctrine . In other words, doctrine alone will not produce the power. This doesn’t mean that doctrine isn’t important, but if our doctrine is scripturally sound it must be accompanied by the manifestation of God’s supernatural power. Yet there has been a whole generation that has known hermeneutics and homiletics with no demonstration of God’s kingdom. We must be people who not only preach the gospel but who experience the power of the gospel.
