Most believers have no concept of the realm of now . This is why you often hear people say, “I remember when God moved in 1994,” or “I remember what God did in 2008.” Don’t get me wrong—there is nothing wrong with honoring and appreciating past encounters with God or even building off of them, but we must be careful not to be locked into the past.
In Matthew 17 Jesus wanted the revelation of His splendor to leave an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of His disciples so that they would have a permanent touch point for the reality of God’s presence.
The problem is that we live in a society that is always disconnected from the now. In fact, we are very rarely in the present, its either we are in the past or the future.
Now is not the past and it is not the future; it is now! It is the present time or moment . Jesus invited the disciples into the eternal now to see things the way they really are from heaven’s perspective. Until this time in Matthew 17 , they saw Jesus as a rabbi and teacher, but on the mountain they received a glimpse into the heavenly realm.
They saw the glory! What if this was not an isolated event but a regular occurrence that Jesus invited His disciples into? I am not going say much, just reflect on this post, but it is an interesting consideration.
