There is a very powerful account found in the
Gospel of Mark that illustrates the power of this
move of the Spirit of God. The Bible records:
And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it (Mark 11:13-14). There is a portion of the verse that we cannot ignore that says, “For the time of figs was not yet.” What does this mean? In other words, it was not the season for the fig harvest, yet Jesus expected fruit to be on the tree. It would be safe to assume that Jesus knew what time the fig tree was supposed to produce, yet He cursed the tree for not having fruit in
the wrong season. This is a mystery about the Church.
For the last 1,500 years, the Church has been seasonal in her thinking. In other words, we have had a tendency to lock God into seasons of movement, and when there is no movement we attribute it to the wrong season. Jesus forever cursed the mindset of seasonal productivity. We often hear leaders say that
we must wait for revival to hit. They are eagerly anticipating God’s next season of revival and awakening. But I want to submit to you that revival and awakening is now.
Jesus gave us a pattern to follow. This pattern shows us that the magnitude of the fruit we produce is not determined by the season we are in but by the revelation we possess. This tells us that anytime the presence of God is manifested, it is harvest time.
Don’t wait for your season to change, engage the presence of Jesus now.
